This past week has been especially edifying. What great messages we were able to hear in this General Conference. The messages were perfect for investigators and it is always especially refreshing to hear the words of our prophet and the apostles as a missionary.
I find it interesting how it seems like the focus on the Plan of Salvation, and sharing it with others (being investigators or less-active members). What other church or doctine has the answers to the questions of the soul? Through the restored gospel of Jesus Christ, the power of the Atonement of Jesus Christ and the saving ordinances of the holy temple have been revealed to the children of man. It was interesting to hear the thought-provoking questions during this conference. If there comes a time where we decide to separate ourselves from the only true church, Where are we going to go? What are we going to do? These questions made me reflect so much on the great Plan of Salvation that the Lord has revealed to us. The truth is that there is no correct answer to these questions. Having received a testimony of the truthfulness of this message, and then rejecting it just shows us how quick we are as people to let others rob our faith. I would never want to imagine myself anwhere else.
Lately, I have been studying a lot about church history and the treks of the early Latter-day Saints. What faith they had to cross hundreds of miles to worship in a place where they would be free of persecution. Have we the same faith that these early saints had? Would we cross frozen rivers and walk with our children and babies through feet of snow and ice? I say that we have it pretty good in today's day. This is my favorite scripture of the Book of Mormon:
1 Nephi 1:20
But behold, I,Nephi, will show unto you that the tender mercies of the Lord are over all those whom he hath chosen, because of their faith, to make them mighty even unto the power of deliverance.
That's just a small piece of what I got from the conference. If I had the time I would explain a whole lot more. I hope you all felt the spirit during this conference and that we may all press on with more faith than we had before. I already can't wait for the next conference in April!
