Fecha Bautismal

Hola!

Well, winter is definitely coming. We have been seeing the first rainstorms of the season. And wow! There is lots of thunder and lightning! It´s frightening at times because it will literally just come out of nowhere. This past week, we were returning from a lunch appointment and we were almost back to the church when a huge rainstorm hit out of nowhere. We got soaked and had to dry ourselves off with paper towels and fans. I hadn´t been that soaked since I was in Pueblo Nuevo.

The good news this week is that we are going to have a baptism on Saturday. The kid we are going to baptize is named Sonni. He´s almost 13 years old and his father is a less-active member. Sonni is super excited for his baptism and he is progressing very quickly. He learns things in an instant. He was definitely prepared.

Thanks as always for the prayers and constant love and support you all show to the missionaries. Have a great week!

Adventures and stuff

Hola Everyone!🙋

Sorry for not writing last week. I was going to try to find some time during the week to send something, but it ended up not happening. For now, things are going really well here in Mision Guatemala Retalhuleu. We have big goals and we are receiving lots of blessings.

Nancy is starting to really enjoy church. Margarita (the mother) pretty much told us that she doesn´t want anything to do with the church after a pastor visited her from some Evangelical Church, but we haven´t lost faith with her. Luckily we have some good members in this ward that are really supporting the work.

Last Monday, I wasn´t able to write because I had to go with Elder Wilcox to San Marcos, aka. the mountains, to pick up some equipment. On the way to get to the zones that are in the mountains, we actually have to leave our mission boundaries and pass into the Quetzaltenango (Xela) Mission. We pass through Quetzaltenango as well, which is pretty big in comparison to Retalhuleu. There´s even a Walmart there so I guess it´s a bit more modern.

I´m going to attach a bunch of pictures I took when we went to San Marcos. A lot of them came out really blurry because the car was moving and because the roads here have lots of potholes and speedbumps.

Well that´s all I have for this week. Today we just ran some errands around the house, went grocery shopping, and got haircuts, and the barber cut my sideburns way too short so that´s kind of embarassing. Hope nothing of the sort happens to any of you this week! Have a great week, everybody!!

A Lovely General Conference

Hola Everyone,

This week was pretty ordinary. As always, the major topic was general conference. We were so blessed to have had 3 investigators at general conference. Their names are Margarita, Nancy, and Alex. Margarita is the mother of Nancy and Alex. We started teaching them about two weeks ago and the conference was their first time ever attending church. Margarita and Nancy liked it so much that they accepted a baptismal date for the 16th of this month! We just need to keep visiting and teaching them so that they are prepared for their date. That was the highlight of this week.

As far as the talks, I have to say that I really enjoyed the last session. I felt very inspired by the message about the Atonement and Resurrection of Jesus Christ. Margarita had told us a few days earlier about how she would really love to have an eternal family, and I could tell that she was very touched by the message on how her relatives that have passed on from this life will be resurrected and perfected. It was definitely amazing to hear the answer to an investigator´s question during general conference. She even commented after that the message about the resurrection was her favorite.

We are so blessed by our Heavenly Father to have a living prophet and 12 apostles who love us and guide us along the straight and narrow path. As months and years pass, we see that the world is fighting against The Church of Jesus Christ continuously. What a firm testimony that this is the true church of Jesus Christ. The only church with a living prophet who receives direct revelation from God, the fulness of the gospel of Jesus Christ, living-ordinances and covenants, and refuge from the storm. Thanks to the restored gospel of Jesus Christ, every child of God has access to their divine potential.

Hope you all have a wonderful week!
